Notts County hope to land forward after talks take place with target

Neal Ardley is hoping to add a new striker to Notts County’s attack after revealing talks have already taken place with one target.

The Magpies boss is eager to bolster his attack with physical presence after the need for a bustling frontman was proven yet again following Saturday’s defeat to Barnet.

Notts are currently deploying winger Enzio Boldewijn as a striker with the Dutchman opening his account against the Bees with a thunderous effort in the 2-1 reverse.

But with Kane Hemmings having left the club to rejoin Dundee last week, Notts’ options up front are not the strongest with Kristian Dennis and Nathan Tyson the only experienced strikers on the books.

Ardley is hoping to strengthen that position ahead of Tuesday’s trip to Harrogate and is eager to get the deal across the line.

“We are looking at a forward,” he said.

“We were in talks with one at the back end of last week and we are trying to get it over the line.

“It would be a permanent, but I am never confident until they have signed.

“Fingers crossed on Monday that we have some positive news.”
