Notts County head coach Ian Burchnall delivers blunt verdict on defeat to Eastleigh

Notts County head coach Ian Burchnall had no complaints with the Magpies' 2-0 defeat at Eastleigh as he said his players looked tired "mentally and physically".

The Magpies slipped to a 2-0 defeat at the Silverlake Stadium where goals from Tyrone Barnett and Andrew Boyce ended their five-game unbeaten run in the National League.

Notts struggled to create chances in attack with their best efforts coming from long distances strikes from Ruben Rodrigues and Callum Roberts.

Burchnall said his side, who have had a hectic schedule of fixtures, struggled to find the rhythm of recent games in which they have been hugely impressively.

"I don't think we performed well at all," he said.

"The game started quite brightly in the first 10 minutes but then we had the head injury, a few stoppages and I just think we allowed our tempo to drop.

"I didn't feel we had the same kind of intensity that we've had in the previous few games in terms of the purpose with the ball.

"There were a lot of technical errors and it looked a tired performance both mentally and physically.

"I am disappointed with that because I think if we want to be up there we have to be able to go Saturday, Tuesday, at that intensity.

"I didn't think we deserved anything from the game. We were poor."
