Notts County given National League hope as Neal Ardley makes frank admission

Ardley's admission

Notts County boss Neal Ardley says their performance against York City “wasn’t good enough” but admitted he he learned a great deal from the 3-0 defeat.

The Magpies put in an awful performance in their final game of pre-season having been 2-0 down at the break following goals from Akil Wright and Jake Cassidy.

Notts marginally improved after half-time, but they conceded another poor goal to Alex Wollaton to seal a convincing win for the Minstermen.

With the National League set to kick-off next weekend, it was a poor performance ahead of the curtain-raiser and Ardley said it told him a great deal.

“It wasn’t good enough, we know that,” he said.

“It’s easy to get really angry about it, but in the same vein it’s told me a lot I needed to know."

Indication season will go ahead as planned?

Dover Athletic have announced they will stream all of their National League games this season in a sign the campaign will kick-off as planned.

The club has announced that their opening fixture against Notts County will be screened live with all proceeds going to the home team.

Notts fans will have to pay £8 to watch the clash at the Crabble but the announcement, which was made this evening, seems to be an indication that the game on  October 3 will go ahead.

It had been put into doubt earlier this week when reports emerged that the National League was set to delay the start to the season because club cannot afford to play behind closed doors.

But streaming has been mooted as an alternative way of allowing the season to go ahead until fan can return to stadiums and Dover appear to the be first club to launch a live service in the National League.
