Notts County fans make wasted journey after AFC Fylde game is postponed just two hours before kick-off

Notts County fans were subjected to a wasted journey  to AFC Fylde  after their National League  clash was postponed  just under  two hours before  kick-off.

Fylde announced the game had been called off after  a pitch inspection was  carried out  in which  the referee deemed the surface unplayable.

Some Magpies fans were already close to arriving at the Mill Farm stadium when the news broke with some arranging time off work to travel as Neal Ardley's side hoped to make it 10 games umbeaten.

The team had also began its pre-match preparations at a hotel in Preston when they were informed the game would not be going ahead.

AFC Fylde had informed fans that an inspection would be taking place on their Twitter account and  immediately placed the game in doubt by admitting “it did not look good”.

The postponement was a result of heavy rain which has battered the north west in the last 24 hours, but Notts fans have criticised the decision not to hold an earlier  inspection.

The game will now have to be arranged for  a second  time after it had been moved because of both sides’ involvement in the FA Trophy.
