Notts County fans all say the same thing after Wrexham clash postponed

Notts County are left with a blank weekend after their scheduled clash against Wrexham on Friday night was postponed due to a frozen pitch.

Despite frost covers being in place, temperatures have plummeted leading to the game being called off.

A Wrexham statement said: "Following every effort by the groundsmen, the game was called off by a referee this afternoon (Friday) due to a frozen pitch.

"The pitch had been drained after last Saturday's match and on Sunday frost covers were applied in the morning with lighting rigs on goalmouths to combat the elements.

"However, with temperatures on Wednesday at minus-seven and the covers unable to deal with anything under minus-four, the Mold Road stand side of the pitch has frozen despite heat lamps being positioned to thaw the pitch."

Groundsman Paul Challinor said: "We pulled the sheets back but the pitch was much harder than expected, the ref came in and with temperatures not going above freezing the game was called off.

"Frost covers will be removed ahead of Tuesday's match and with rain forecast and some heat, it should thaw it naturally.

"We now look ahead to our match on Tuesday against Woking and will announce a new date for Notts County once confirmed."

But Notts fans were quick to have their say and asked why Wrexham could not bring forward their trip to Meadow Lane, which is due to be played in April, instead.

Notts have already done that once this season with Solihull Moors, but both clubs need to be in agreement.

One Notts fan said: "Why can't they come to us?"

And another added: "Why can’t they come to us then?"

"Why can't they just come to the lane?" another supporter added.

"Play it at ML?" said another fan.

One fan Magpies fan rounded off by saying: "Make them come to us."
