Notts County fan with terminal cancer receives standing ovation as Magpies roll out the red carpet

Notts County rolled out the red carpet treatment to a fan with terminal cancer by making him their guest of honour and he received a standing ovation for their thumping win over Eastleigh last weekend.

Frank Read is currently in end of life care but wanted to visit Meadow Lane one last time as the Magpies produced one of their finest performances of the season.

He was accompanied by his friend Marie and her son Jack, who are considered to be like family.

As part of his day, Frank met manager Neal Ardley and his squad who are currently vying for promotion back to the Football League while also chasing glory in the FA Trophy.

And at half-time, he joined Les Bradd on the pitch where he was presented with a signed shirt upon which he was given a wonderful reception from a crowd of more than 4,900.

He was also tasked with picking the man of the match award and he opted for Kyle Wootton who struck tw fine goals to cap off what was an unforgettable experience.
