Notts County face anxious wait over Damien McCrory appeal

Notts County face an anxious wait over Damien McCrory after submitting an appeal over the defender’s red card at Eastleigh.

The former Burton Albion full-back was shown a red card for his part in a 50/50 challenge during the 1-0 defeat and followed on from Michael Doyle’s straight red card for a foul on Reda Johnson.

Magpies boss Ardley has since looked at the video of the challenge in detail and is adamant that McCroy’s tackle was not worthy of a sending off.

Footage of the incident has now been sent to the Football Association’s disciplinary committee in the hope it will be rescinded allowing the defender to face Stockport at Meadow Lane on Tuesday night.

“Jason Turner and Jimmy Redfern, our analysis guy, have worked hard on submitting Damien’s appeal.

“We won’t get an answer on that until the close of play today.

“With the angle the referee had of Damien’s tackle, I could see why he might think it was a red.

“But when they assess it from the other side of the pitch, you can clearly see it’s nothing like what it looked like.”

Should the appeal fail, it is likely that McCroy will join Doyle in a three-match ban which means he will miss the clash against Stockport on Tuesday and subsequent games against Barnet and Harrogate.
