Notts County defender Richard Brindley wants promotion and says Neal Ardley played huge role in arrival

Richard Brindley has targeted promotion back to the Football League with Notts County and says Neal Ardley was key to arrival at  Meadow Lane.

The right-back made his debut in Saturday’s 1-0 win over Halifax Town and won rave reviews for his performances as Kyle Wootton’s goal sealed all three points.

And having seen the quality of the squad since arriving, the former Rotherham and Colchester defender says returning to the Football League is on his agenda.

And he admitted that Ardley was pivotal to his decision to sign for the club with the Notts manager having been an admirer since he was in charge of AFC Wimbledon.

“I want promotion,” he said.

“This team has the capability of that going by the squad and looking at the players the manager has signed.

“I can see that and that’s what I want to be a part of.

“I wanted to work underneath a manager that suited my style as well because, at times, I’ve been at some clubs which have not necessarily suited me in terms of being able to get forward and create opportunities.”
