Notts County could break National League record against Solihull

Notts County could break the National League record attendance when they welcome Solihull Moors to Meadow Lane this weekend.

The Magpies are currently seventh and take on sixth-placed Moors, who are just one point ahead of them, on Saturday.

Ian Burchnall's men expect to walk out to a bumper crowd of more than 10,000 supporters at 3pm as they look to take advantage of the international break this weekend.

And now it is been suggested that the Magpies could even top the National League record attendance of 11,083 set in 2015 by Bristol Rovers vs Alfreton Town.

The Magpies slashed ticket prices for the fixture, with adults able to get in for only £5 and anyone under the age of 16 for just £1, and the ploy looks to be working with Notts posting on Twitter in an attempt to push it over the line.

The Magpies have often averaged around the 6,000 mark at Meadow Lane in recent seasons, but the stadium is able to hold around 20,000. Stockport County's visit pulled in a high of 7,418 so far this season.

Speaking to NottinghamshireLive earlier in the week, Burchnall spoke of his players' efforts in helping Notts reach the threshold, particularly star-striker Ruben Rodrigues, who will have the added incentive of showing his parents Meadow Lane.

"The three of them we've got in there, Cal (Roberts), Ruben (Rodrigues) and Vinny (Frank Vincent) are enjoying it. I think we've got a couple of second-hand car dealers in the making.

"Especially Ruben, it's like he's Wolf of Wall Street in there trying to sell the tickets. It's great to see. I think the lads really appreciate the initiative and they really appreciate the effort from the supporters.

“Everybody is united in making a push to really make it something special this weekend, to fill up the ground, and create a great atmosphere," he added.

“Should we surpass the record for the National League, which is our target, it would be a wonderful achievement - both for the club and all of our supporters."
