Notts County commemorate 125 years since FA Cup win over Bolton Wanderers

Notts County commemorated the 125th anniversary of their 1894 FA Cup win in Saturday afternoon's clash with Exeter City.

The Magpies lifted the trophy that year after beating Bolton Wanderers 4-1 at Goodison Park on March 31st, with Arthur Watson opening the scoring and James Logan notching a hat-trick.

Against Exeter, there was a replica of the trophy on display which was carried onto the pitch by skipper Michael Doyle.

Before the match, the trophy was also available to be seen by supporters at the Portland Leisure Centre and the Broken Wheelbarrow at Meadow Lane.

The team's shirts had special embroidery on the front, with a silhouette of the old FA Cup trophy highlighting their proud achievement.

The corner flags were used to celebrate the Magpies' success, being triangular, a custom that is only traditionally afforded to winners of the FA Cup.

The game itself finished 1-0 to the visitors, with Exeter having Ryan Bowman sent off just before the half-hour mark, but unfortunately, Neal Ardley's class of 2019 were unable to find a way through and their relegation worries continued after conceding in stoppage time.
