Notts County boss Neal Ardley reveals extent of Jim O'Brien injury

Notts County boss Neal Ardley hit out at his side’s defending as Bromley moved to the top of the National League with a 2-1 victory over the Magpies.

In a game marred by a serious injury to midfielder Jim O’Brien, the Magpies were a goal down after two minutes when Alfie Doughty scored at the back post.

Kyle Wootton’s brilliant equaliser put Notts back on level terms  as he celebrated his third goal in as many games.

But after Mark Cousins had tipped over a fantastic effort from Kristian Dennis, Shawn McCoulsky sealed the win for the hosts with a fine strike from the edge of the box.

Ardley was fuming with the nature of Bromley’s goals, however, and said they could have been avoided.

“In the first 10 minutes I was fuming,” he said. “Both their goals have come from stuff we worked on throughout the week and showed the boys.

“We didn’t work well together.

“We passed it well at times and played some good football.

“You can’t concede two goals away from home and expect to get much from the game – the boys have to grasp that."

To compound Notts' misery, O'Brien looks set for a spell on the sidelines after he suffered a suspected broken arm and was taken to hospital.
