Notts County boss Neal Ardley remains coy on Michael Doyle selection dilemma

Neal Ardley is remaining coy as to whether Michael Doyle will win an instant recall to Notts County’s starting line-up after the club captain finished his four-game ban.

The Irishman served the last game of his suspension as he missed Saturday’s 2-2 draw at Dover and is now available for selection for tomorrow’s visit of Dagenham and Redbridge.

Notts have fared well in his absence having won two games, drawing one and losing the other.

It has given Magpies boss Ardley plenty of food for thought, given Doyle is the skipper and was in fine form before he was dismissed in the 1-0 victory over Halifax.

But the Notts manager insists there are no guarantees as to whether the 38-year-old will instantly win his place back and says there are important discussions to be had.

“Michael will come back into the reckoning and into my thoughts,” he said.

“I’ve got a decision to make and I will chat to Neil Cox (assistant manager) about it.

“Do we freshen it up because we have a three-game week or do we stick with the same team?

“Those are discussions we will be having over a cup of tea in the flat.”
