Notts County boss Neal Ardley insists players aren't getting carried away with play-off form

Notts County boss Neal Ardley admits his side are refusing to be carried away by their brilliant form and are concentrating on being “relentless”.

The Magpies made it four wins out of their last five games on Saturday as they overcame Torquay United 2-0 at Meadow Lane to rise up to fifth in the table.

Richard Brindley opened the scoring after eight minutes with a 30-yard howitzer, before Kristian Dennis’ third goal in as many games after half-time sealed the victory.

But with Notts having lost just two of their last 14 games, Ardley says his players are not letting their form go to their heads, proven by a conversation he heard between the players pre-match.

“They are very grounded,” he said.

“Before the game, and 10 minutes before I do my talk, I just listen to what the players are saying.

“They were shouting commands to each other and a lot of it was sense.

“They are trying to be relentless. They were saying ‘it’s been a tough week, but we are not tired, we are not going to end it being lethargic, let’s do what we’ve got to do.’.

“They were all really determined. They look forward to playing at Meadow Lane and long may that continue.”
