Notts County boss Neal Ardley hails Magpies after victory over Borehamwood

Neal Ardley was thrilled with Notts County’s victory over Borehamwood as he praised his side’s resilience for overcoming a late scare.

The Magpies had surged into a 2-0 lead as Enzio Boldewijn put them ahead in the first half, before Sam Osborne’s first goal for the club put them  further in command.

But a penalty five minutes from the end, converted by Tyrone Marsh, meant Notts had to overcome a nervy ending to seal all three points.

Notts boss Ardley was delighted with the manner of the victory and said the players deserved credit for bouncing back in perfect fashion after losing to Bromley on Saturday.

“They didn’t look like scoring in the second half and I thought the back four had it on lock down,” he said.

“We were ready to see the game out. It was a disappointing penalty to give away, and it was always going to be nervy last few minutes.

“We wanted a bit more steel and when you watch our second goal it’s everything we try and work on.

“We wanted to play our football, but we also defend resiliently.”
