Notts County boss Neal Ardley closing in on new striker

Neal Ardley is optimistic of completing a deal for a new striker, as he closes in on the target man that will complete Notts County’s attack.

The Magpies boss wants to add a bustling forward to help beef up his squad for the physicality of the National League and identified his target weeks ago.

But the deal has been slow in getting across the line as a result of  the player’s club needing to complete their own transfer business before the switch can be completed.

Ardley says he has been encouraged, however, that his long pursuit of a powerful forward is nearing a successful conclusion.

“We identified one (striker) a long time ago, but a number of things have happened that has meant we have had to sit  and be patient,” he said.

“All I would say is ‘watch this space’.

“We are more hopeful than ever that something can be done and if it does it will be the next few days.

“But if not, we will take a deep breath and try to get it right.”
