Notts County boss Neal Ardley braced for "relentless" promotion battle

Neal Ardley is braced for a “relentless” promotion battle from the National League  as he urged his Notts County side to maintain their incredible Christmas form.

The Magpies jumped up to fifth in the National League table at the weekend as they secured a 2-1 win against Bromley as they secured their fourth win out of five in the league.

Notts have taken 13 points from 15 on offer from the festive period which has laid an excellent foundation for the second half of the season.

But while they have designs on making  a quick return to the Football League, Ardley says they are just one of a number of teams locked in an intense battle.

“There’s a long, long way to go,” he said.

“Harrogate are in unbelievable form, Boreham Wood are strong after beating Stockport.

“We saw that here and there are so many teams that you can’t see falling away.

“There are probably 10 teams in and around it now who can keep going. It’s relentless.

“We’ve got to keep defending how we have been and keep that spark going forwards as we showed over Christmas.”
