Notts County receive 'no warning' prior to Dover postponement

Notts County have made their feelings clear after a late call to postpone their clash at Dover today, saying they received “no warning” the game was in doubt.

The Magpies were due to take on the National League’s bottom side at the Crabble Stadium this afternoon.

However, the match was called off with little more than 90 minutes to go before the 3pm kick-off.

Notts said on their official Twitter feed: “Despite receiving no warning whatsoever of a pitch inspection or the match being in doubt, the referee has arrived at the stadium and called the game off - stating the pitch is totally unplayable.

“We can only apologise to supporters who have made another wasted journey.”

Dover tweeted: “GAME OFF: The referee has decided the pitch is unplayable and with further rain forecast has called the game off.”

Notts had headed south looking to make it five wins in a row in all competitions and six games unbeaten.

Their scheduled opponents prop up the table, having not registered a single victory all season.

Ian Burchnall’s team are next due to be in action on Tuesday, when they travel to face King’s Lynn.

The Magpies are currently sixth in the National League standings.
