Notts County backed by National League rivals as promotion vote deadline is revealed

The answer to how Notts County 's National League campaign will be finished is expected to become clearer in the next 48 hours, BBC Sport have said.

The Magpies are understood to have received an "ordinary resolution", a plan for how the season will be finished, from National League bosses that they will now vote to either approve or reject before the close of play on Wednesday.

Notts are expected to be backed by a host of their non-league rivals in voting for the play-offs to take place next month.

According to the Halifax Courier, Halifax Town have already voted in favour of that plan in the hope that the play-offs will go ahead this summer after their proposal landed earlier today.

That proposal will see a play-off winner promoted to League Two alongside league leaders AFC Barrow, who will win the division on standard points-per-game.

It will also see more teams than normal relegated out of the National League.

And clubs can now vote.

The majority required to sway the ballot is understood to be 51%.

Should the play-offs go ahead, Neal Ardley's side will face off with the Shaymen, Stockport County, Boreham Wood, Yeovil Town and Harrogate for the final promotion spot.

Last week, Notts chief executive Jason Tuner said: "Should we be required to host play-off matches this season, our pitch will be more than ready.

"As soon as we know more we will share the details with you but, for now, I’d like to bring you up to speed on a variety of other topics which I hope will be of interest."
