Nottinghamshire woman explains reason she changed her mind over covid jab

A previously unjabbed Nottinghamshire woman has explained the reason she changed her mind over getting a covid vaccine.

Octavia Burns, of Ladybrook, Mansfield, received her first jab at King’s Mill Hospital on Friday, December 17.

It follows months of doubts by the 22-year-old, who was fearful of the vaccine’s potential side effects.

“I heard a lot of bad things about it, such as people getting blood clots and stuff,” she told Nottinghamshire Live as she queued up for her injection.

However, Ms Burns said that the current threat of Omicron had changed her mind.

She said: “I heard about how bad it has been getting, and everyone else is getting one. I’m a bit nervous but only about the after-effects. I just want that peace of mind.”

She was one of a long line of people to get a jab on a busy evening at King’s Mill.

Also receiving their vaccines were father and son, Adrian and Lewis Morgan.

Adrian, 49, was attending for his booster jab and said: "The booking system was fine. Hopefully, we'll be able to go and do things. Although I can't see it being the end of the road for a long long time.

"I think at some point we're just going to have to suck it up and move on with all our lives."
