Nottinghamshire thunderstorms weather warning which may disrupt transport

Parts of Nottinghamshire have been warned to expect thunderstorms and heavy rain as the unsettled weather continues.

Scattered thunderstorms may cause some transport disruption on Wednesday afternoon.

The warning was issued at 1.26pm on July 28 and is in place until 7pm the same day.

In Nottinghamshire, the yellow warning covers from north of Hucknall including Mansfield, Kirkby, Sutton and Worksop.

The warning also covers Sheffield, Leeds, Hull and York.

Nottingham city is not within the warning zone of weather sweeping in.

The Met Office warned to expect some flooding of a few homes and businesses as "likely", leading to some damage to buildings or structures.

Weather experts added: "Probably some damage to a few buildings and structures from lightning strikes

"There is a good chance driving conditions will be affected by spray, standing water and/or hail, leading to longer journey times by car and bus.

"Delays to train services are possible and some short term loss of power and other services is likely."
