Nottinghamshire school sends 'bubble' in year group home after Covid-19 case

A Nottinghamshire school has sent home a 'bubble' of students in a year group following a positive coronavirus case.

George Spencer Academy confirmed the news, but did not say which year group had been sent home following the positive Covid test, but that parents had been informed.

The academy in Stapleford has around 1,600 students attend.

A spokesperson for the Spencer Academies Trust, which runs the school said: "We can confirm a single year group closure at George Spencer Academy. Parents have been informed."

A growing list of schools in Nottinghamshire have now been affected by coronavirus since reopening for the new school year.

Positive cases in teachers and students, along with others showing symptoms, have led to certain ‘bubbles’ of pupils being sent home to self-isolate.

The first reported case was at Mellers Primary School in Radford after two staff members tested positive. The school was closed for Year One and Three students until September 21. It has since reopened.

Since then, 44 other schools have announced changes enforced by the pandemic.
