Nottinghamshire's Steven Mullaney making positive progress with return from knee operation

Nottinghamshire's Steven Mullaney says he is preparing to step up his rehabilitation as he continues to fight back from a knee injury.

The all-rounder underwent surgery two weeks ago to correct an knee injury that had been troubling him for a number of weeks.

Mullaney, who was one of Notts' best players during a disappointing campaign in Division One of the Championship, has already missed key Vitality Blast games this season and is set to miss more as he refused to put a time frame on his return.

"I am two weeks post surgery today and I have started doing a little bit more and more," Mullaney told the club website.

"I still have not done any running or anything like that yet, but I have been on the bike and have done up to twenty minutes on the bike.

"Hopefully I can progress that through the week and then we can step it up again."

Currently, Notts are fifth in the Vitality Blast's northern table and are in the mix for a quarter-final spot.

This weekend they take on the Birmingham Bears and Lancashire Lightning, two sides above them in the standings, for what could prove a pivotal weekend for the Outlaws.

"I am not very good watching from the sides to be honest," Mullaney continued.

"I wasn't here for Saturday's game but I was listening to the radio, but I have been to all the other games.

"I thought the derby performance was magnificent in tough conditions against a team where it is tough to go in a massive derby for us.

"Things did not go out plan on Saturday in the 11 over game but we have two massive games coming up this weekend.

"If we can get two wins from those two then that will put us in a great position int the table."
