Nottinghamshire's latest Covid R-rate confirmed

Nottingham's R-rate has dropped slightly over the last two weeks.

Latest official data shows the R-rate across the city and county is 0.9 to 1.1. The figure is in line with the current rate across the rest of the country.

The rate in Nottingham has fallen from the figure given two weeks ago, with the R Rate stood at 1.0 and 1.2.

An R number of 1 means that, on average, every person who is infected will infect one other person. That would mean the total number of infections is stable, and therefore any number above 1 means the virus is more readily spreading.

It comes after statistics revealed Covid rates have fallen in all but two Nottinghamshire areas from the seven days to September 10.

The city has the lowest rate in Nottinghamshire, currently at 275 down from 327.8 per 100,000.

A campaign for the booster jab roll-out will begin during the week commencing Monday, September 20.

Despite a lower R-rate Nottingham hospital officials say that they are under 'extreme pressure' and fear a difficult winter ahead.
