Nottinghamshire riverside cafe bar closes down - but will reopen soon

A cafe bar on the banks of the River Trent in Nottinghamshire has shut - but it won't remain closed for long after a takeover.

Biondi Bistro at Trentside, in Gunthorpe, has been sold by Giuliano Biondi.

However, the business will reopen soon with a new name - early October, according to the new owner Anouar Zouaghi if all goes to plan with a revamp.

La Vague (French for the wave) will be the new name of the business, which like Biondi, will be serving Italian food but with new additions to the menu, as well as coffee and cake.

Mr Zouaghi, who has been in catering for 30 years, said: "My family had a restaurant with the name when I was growing up in France. I like it - it's different.

"I'm refurbishing the place and hoping to open the first week in October."

He is planning to open for longer hours - including Friday and Saturday nights until 10pm.

La Vague will be open for breakfast serving a full English, pancakes, omelettes and vegan options from 9am.

"Once a month we will be doing Moroccan or French nights," added Mr Zouaghi.
