Nottinghamshire Police update on officer who was tested for coronavirus

A Nottinghamshire Police officer who returned from Italy with flu-like symptoms has been tested for the coronavirus.

The officer, who has not been named, said he was feeling unwell while working at the Bridewell Custody Suite  as a response officer overnight on Tuesday, February 25.

He had come back from a trip to Northern Italy, where cases of Covid-19 grew by 45 percent to more than 300 in 24 hours and 11 people have now died.

His test results have come back negative.

The Bridewell was not closed as a result and no one else in the force has been affected.

A spokesman for Nottinghamshire Police said: "A police officer has tested negative for coronavirus (Covid-19).

"He was tested earlier this week after reporting feeling unwell when he returned from a recent trip to northern Italy."
