The parents of a 13-year-old girl who has been missing from her home in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire, since Saturday have made an emotional appeal for her to come home.
There have been no confirmed sightings of Amber Peat since she left her home in Bosworth Street at 5.30pm on Saturday.
Her mother, Kelly, and stepfather, Danny, described Amber as a “girly girl” who loved nothing better than reading. They said they had just got back from a “brilliant” holiday and her disappearance was completely out of character.
Fighting back tears at a press conference on Tuesday, Kelly Peat said: “If you’re watching this, or anyone knows where she is, just send her home please.”
Also in tears, Danny Peat said: “She doesn’t really go out, she wants to read a book. If she gets five minutes she sits down and reads a book. She’s got no access to the internet or anything like that.”
In a direct appeal to Amber, he said: “Just come home, just let us know that you’re safe.”
An extensive police search, aided by friends and family, has so far found nothing and officers said they were seriously concerned about Amber’s wellbeing. They released a new photo of the teenager in the hope it would help with the search.

The last contact Amber had with her parents was when they had a minor argument about chores on Saturday. Her mother heard the front door slam and when she went to look, she could not see Amber.
Her stepfather said: “We’d just all had a brilliant holiday. It’s just not right. She’s had a fantastic time and she never stopped smiling.”
Amber is about 1.2m (4ft) tall, of petite build with long dark brown hair and a tiny scar above her lip. She was last seen wearing a black Puma zip-up top, purple trainers and blue jeans.
Danny Peat thanked the local community for helping with the search.
“It’s overwhelming,” he said. “The amount of people who are out there now – while we’re in here – searching, every night … We want to thank them and ask for any more help until she comes home.”
Superintendent Matt McFarlane of Nottinghamshire police, said: “We haven’t heard or seen from Amber since Saturday and it is now Tuesday. We are concerned about her whereabouts and the request very much is, Amber, if you hear this, please come home … or if anybody who sees this or hears this, please contact us and let us know where Amber is. We just want to get Amber home safely.”
