Police have doubled the amount of Taser guns carried by officers in a bid to tackle crime across Nottinghamshire.
Nottinghamshire Police said over the last two years the amount of Taser guns in their possession have risen to around 300, up from around 150 in 2017.
But the force will not follow the same path as Derbyshire Police which will give every front line officer a Taser if they request it.
And in Northamptonshire, it has been reported that every single front line police officer would be armed with the weapon.
Conductive Energy Devices (CEDs), also known as Tasers, fire two small dart-like electrodes before delivering a high-voltage shock to temporarily disable a suspect.
They are usually used to disarm violent or potentially violent offenders.
Chief Constable of Nottinghamshire Police, Craig Guildford said he was "quite surprised" how few Taser guns the force had when he started just over two years ago.
He said: "One of the first decisions was to double the number and buy the latest tasers. We now have about 300 Tasers for the force so that an officer is never far away from a colleague with a taser.
"I am a big fan of tasers.
"Not all the officers would want to carry one and there is a cost to equip them with one, but I will always keep it under review."
Police and Crime Commissioner Paddy Tipping said: "Since Craig Guildford arrived the number of officers who have access to a Taser has doubled.
"I think we have sufficient Taser coverage and are one of a few forces in the country that are using the latest model of taser."
