Nottinghamshire man fined for driving to East Midlands Airport because he 'wanted to go for a drive'

East Midlands Airport police have issued a Nottinghamshire man with a fine for breaching Covid rules.

Officers said they caught the driver at the perimeter gates.

They said he was with someone not from the same household and gave the excuse that "he'd recently got his licence back and wanted to go for a drive".

It comes after officers fined a Mansfield man £200 for making the 54.2 mile round trip to watch planes at airport last week.

A police spokesperson said: Another covid fine issued to male from Nottinghamshire found [at] East Midlands Airport perimeter gates.

"He stated his reason for visit was that he'd recently got his licence back and wanted to go for a drive.

"He was also in company with another person not from the same household."
