Nottinghamshire cricket ace Stuart Broad engaged to Saturdays singer Mollie King

England and Nottinghamshire cricket ace Stuart Broad has popped the question to his popstar and Radio 1 presenter girlfriend Mollie King - who said yes.

Broad revealed the news in a Twitter post on the evening of January 1, 2021, in which he said: "The best way to start 2021."

The cheeky snap shows the fast bowler kissing Mollie, who is both a singer for the Saturdays as well as a co-host on a BBC Radio 1 show alongside Matt Edmondson, as she reveals her sparkling engagement ring which sits upon her finger.

Mollie responded to the announcement on Instagram, saying: "A thousand times yes!

"I still can't believe it, the most magical start to the new year. I can't wait to spend all my years with you Stuart Broad."

The couple first began dating back in 2012.

Broad transferred from Leicestershire to Nottinghamshire in 2008, where he was born, and the world-renowned cricketer also owns his very own pub in Upper Broughton, near Melton Mowbray.

Throughout the pandemic, he has focused his efforts on giving back to the community, after his tour to Sri Lanka was cut short.

He has done this by converting the Tap & Run's dining area into a village shop.

His recent engagement announcement on Twitter has been liked 9,000 times already, while Saturdays singer Vanessa White took to Mollie's Instagram post to congratulate the pair.
