Nottinghamshire's R rate remains slightly above that of England as a whole, according to health officials.
The reproduction number, written as 'R', is the average number of secondary infections produced by a single infected person.
An R number of 1 means that, on average, every person who is infected will infect one other person, meaning the total number of infections is stable.
If R is 2, on average, each single infected person infects two more people.
If R is 0.5, for example, then on average for each two infected people, there will be only one new infection.
In Nottinghamshire as a whole the R rate is estimated to be between 1.2 and 1.6, meaning the infection is still readily spreading.
England's rate is roughly 1.2 to 1.4.
It comes as, nationally, the number of cases as of July 25 continue on a downward trajectory for the first time in months.
For example, in the last seven days, case numbers have dropped by around -15.4% compared to the previous week.
In Nottinghamshire, however, the situation is still serious and infection rates across each district and borough of the county remain higher than the England average.
Hospital numbers continue to rise, as do the numbers of people needing critical care due to Covid, and the peak is not expected until August or September at the latest.
There has also been a push for people to get vaccinated, particularly those in the younger age ranges and, importantly, more than 13,000 people over 50 who are yet to get their first jab despite repeated offers.
