Nottinghamshire County Show organisers deliver 'sad and disappointing' update on 2021 event

Organisers have said it's a "bitter disappointment" they have once again had to pull the plug on one of Nottinghamshire's biggest and most popular events.

The Nottinghamshire County Show had been set to take place on May 8 at Newark Showground but because of the Government's roadmap, making social contact off limits until June 21, it's no longer viable.

The family-friendly agricultural show, with food and drink and much more besides, was a highlight in the Newark and Nottinghamshire Agricultural Society calendar.

Organisers had worked hard to plan the 2021 show, changing it to just one day and focusing on livestock and equine competitions,

Richard Sheldon, chairman of the County Show committee, said: "We know this will be very sad and disappointing news for all involved, especially as we have had to cancel for a second year in a row.

"However, we must play our part in following guidance from the Government to safely re-open the country and help aid the recovery from the pandemic.

"We look to the future with optimism and confidence at bringing the show back in 2022 focusing on its agricultural roots and truly representing the essence of the local rural community.”

The NNAS still plans to hold its annual Midlands Machinery Show on November 9-10 and and the Newark Vintage Tractor and Heritage Show on November 13-14 at the Showground.
