Nottinghamshire council apologises as bin collections affected by snow

Bin collection services were affected in a part of Nottinghamshire due to snowy conditions.

Due to Tuesday’s freezing conditions, Ashfield District Council couldn’t collect from some streets on Tuesday, December 29.

All bins not collected will be attempted on Wednesday morning instead so residents should leave their bins out on the roads affected.

The forecast is for a freeze overnight so some of these streets may still be dangerous on December 30. But the council said it will try and collect all bins as soon as possible.

All waste via the council's Christmas ‘Bag It’ campaign is being cleared.

Councillor David Martin, Ashfield District Council’s cabinet member for streets, parks and town centres, said: “With the best will in the world - we have not been able to collect from a number of streets this morning.

“We will endeavour to collect the bins as soon as possible. Weather permitting - that should be tomorrow (December 30).

"We apologise for any inconvenience.”
