Nottinghamshire coronavirus cases show slight drop in positive results across

There was another drop in the number of coronavirus cases recorded in Nottinghamshire, new statistics show.

A total of 426 new cases were recorded across Nottingham and Nottinghamshire on Tuesday, January 27, Public Health England data shows. On Monday, 432 cases were recorded for the same areas.

Nottingham, Gedling and Rushcliffe saw a rise in the number of cases while other areas recorded a decline on Monday's number.

On Monday (January 26) Gedling reported 31 cases, but on Tuesday 47 positive cases were confirmed. Similarly, in Rushcliffe, there were 15 more cases recorded.

It comes as the Government said the death toll in the UK has hit 100,162. The daily death count was 1,631.

Speaking from Downing Street press briefing, Prime Minister Boris Johnson said: "Today the number of deaths has surpassed 100,000.

"It's hard to compute the sorrow contained in that grim statistic. I offer my deepest condolences to everyone who has lost a loved one."

Mr Johnson was joined by England’s chief medical officer Professor Chris Whitty and NHS England boss Sir Simon Stevens.

  • Ashfield - 7,376 (increase of 55)
  • Bassetlaw - 6,219 (increase of 34)
  • Broxtowe - 5,689 (increase of 34)
  • Gedling - 6,468 (increase of 47)
  • Mansfield - 6,168(increase of 37)
  • Newark and Sherwood - 5,528 (increase of 25)
  • Nottingham - 25,302 (increase of 155)
  • Rushcliffe - 5,552 (increase of 39)
