Nottinghamshire coronavirus cases increase by more than 600 in 24hours

More than 603 people have tested positive for Covid-19 during the last 24 hours across Nottinghamshire.

It comes after a total of 1,141 cases were confirmed in both the Nottingham and Nottinghamshire for Thursday, January 28 and Friday, January 29.

The largest increase was recorded in Nottingham, where 193 cases were confirmed over 24hours.

The reproduction number, or R value, of coronavirus transmission across the UK is between 0.7 to 1.1, according to the latest Government figures.

The Government said a further 1,200 people had died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19 as of Saturday, bringing the UK total to 105,571.

Separate figures published by the UK’s statistics agencies for deaths where Covid-19 has been mentioned on the death certificate, together with additional data on deaths that have occurred in recent days, show there have now been 122,000 deaths involving Covid-19 in the UK.

The Government also said that, as of 9am on Saturday, there had been a further 23,275 lab-confirmed cases of coronavirus in the UK. It brings the total number of cases in the UK to 3,796,088.

Here is the latest area-by-area breakdown as of January 30:

Ashfield - 7,674 (increase of 63)

Bassetlaw - 6,469 (increase of 90)

Broxtowe - 5,890 (increase of 44)

Gedling - 6,689 (increase of 57)

Mansfield - 6,421 (increase of 66)

Newark and Sherwood - 5,701 (increase of 44)

Nottingham - 26,000 (increase of 193)

Rushcliffe - 5,698 (increase of 46)

Government data up to January 29 shows of the 8,859,372 jabs given in the UK so far, 8,378,940 were first doses – a rise of 487,756 on the previous day’s figures.

Some 480,432 were second doses, an increase of 2,178 on figures released the previous day.

The seven-day rolling average of first doses given in the UK is now 359,656.

Based on the latest figures, an average of 413,816 first doses of vaccine would be needed each day in order to meet the Government’s target of 15 million first doses by February 15.
