Nottinghamshire coronavirus case breakdown as tier decision looms

Nottinghamshire has recorded 294 new coronavirus cases in the past 24 hours to December 16, according to the latest Government data.

Of these, 73 cases were recorded in the city and 221 were recorded across the wider county.

While this was lower than the previous day (December 15), when 326 new cases were recorded, some areas in particular have seen an increase.

A total of 49 new cases were recorded in Gedling, for example, up from 36 the day before.

In Nottingham city there have now been 18,121 cases since the start of the pandemic, while there have been 26,183 in the county.

Here is the daily breakdown area-by-area:

Ashfield - 4000 (increase of 28)

Bassetlaw - 4272 (increase of 48)

Broxtowe - 3647 (increase of 18)

Gedling - 3920 (increase of 49)

Mansfield - 3335 (increase of 28)

Newark and Sherwood - 3,416 (increase of 37)

Rushcliffe - 3580 (increase of 13)

A graph, put together by the Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Local Resilience Forum, shows that across the county the infection rate is again starting to rise following the end of national lockdown on December 2.

A review into just which tier the county should be placed in took place on December 16, while an official announcement is now expected on Thursday, December 17.
