Nottinghamshire café announces closure after just seven months due to rising costs

A Nottinghamshire coffee shop has become the latest victim of rising costs. Revival Coffee Co on Front Street, in Arnold, which was well known for its extensive brunch menu, has closed its doors for good after just seven months.

Owner Kate Norton said she was "heartbroken'. She'd followed her dream to open a cafe, revamping a former branch of Santander bank, and opening in April. The dog-friendly cafe quickly became known for its boozy bottomless brunches, decadent frappes and naughty sweet treats.

Even though trade had been brisk it wasn't enough to sustain the business. She worked hard to make the cafe inclusive for everyone by serving a good choice of gluten-free and vegan options.

Kate had attempted to open in the evenings at weekends, launching the tapas venture El Banco The mum-of-two said: "It's very sad times."

Announcing the closure on Instagram she said: " Am heartbroken having to write this post, but I think given the current financial climate you probably have a good idea what am about to say. We’ve tried really hard to fight the rising costs, bills and cost of living crisis but as a small independent we have no choice but to close our doors. We’ve really loved having you."

Customers were quick to comment on the post sharing their sadness at the announcement. One said: "Gutted! Really enjoyed popping in on the weekends for breakfast. The only place in Arnold I've liked going to."

Food bloggers Guys Who Dine said: "Sorry to hear this Kate. At least you were brave enough to give it a go." Fellow Arnold business, the Sweet House Bakery, said: "This is sad, such a great addition to Arnold! Food looked insane always."
