Nottinghamshire aiming to sign Pakistan all-rounder Imad Wasim for T20 Blast campaign

Notts Outlaws are working to sign Pakistan all-rounder Imad Wasim for their Vitality Blast campaign.

It is understood Imad and the club have agreed terms, but red tape means a deal is yet to be ratified.

The 30-year-old would play for the duration of Notts' participation in the tournament, with the exception of two matches due to his upcoming wedding, if a deal is concluded.

Imad was born in Swansea, but his family returned to Pakistan during his childhood and he since gone on to play 87 times for his country.

In 35 T20 internationals the left-arm off spinner has taken 39 wickets with an impressive economy rate of 5.86. He averages 13.35 with the bat.

Imad, a member of Pakistan's World Cup squad, has featured in 52 one day internationals, scoring 940 runs at an average of 42.72. He has taken 41 wickets at an average of 44.56.

The move to sign Imad, who is entering into his first stint in county cricket, represents something of a U-turn for Notts.

They had previously said they would almost certainly only have one overseas player - captain Dan Christian - having invested heavily in the team over the last year.

However, an injury to key all-rounder Steven Mullaney means they have decided to pursue Imad in order to strengthen their chances of winning the tournament for the second time in three years.
