Nottingham woman's fury over leak that keeps appearing in same place

A woman has told of her fury over a leak on her bedroom ceiling that is yet to be repaired. It is the second time that Simone Anderson has gone through the ordeal that has previously left her bed and carpet soaked.

The 33-year-old, a part-time healthcare assistant from Radford, first reported the leak on July 4 last year. It was a small stain at first, located in a corner of the ceiling.

With every day that passed, however, the leak expanded. Ms Anderson, who has been renting the one-bedroom property on Norton Street for three years, said she reported the incident to the housing association a number of times.

She added: "It was getting bigger and bigger and I told them that I am concerned it will get to the point where it will start leaking over my bed. They said it will never happen - but it did."

It was not until August 3 when she returned home at around 7pm when she discovered her "bed and carpet soaked". "It was really bad", she added.

She reported it to the Nottingham Community Housing Association. After a one-month wait, Ms Anderson finally had her ceiling fixed.

However, after less than a year she noticed a stain appearing in the same place as the previous one. She reported it to the association on Thursday, May 12.

She said she is still waiting to be contacted after reporting the incident. Ms Anderson added: "It is just awful. I do not want to go through the same thing all over again.

"I waited a month last time and I just want them to believe me and fix it. I believe that I might have a throat infection because of all the damp."

A spokesperson for NCHA commented: “We are aware of Miss Anderson’s repair request concerning a water stain on her ceiling, and are in discussion with the residents of the two affected flats to arrange a suitable time to book the repair in.

“We have acknowledged to Miss Anderson that the timings of last year’s repair did not meet our service standards and she has been compensated as a result. We will continue to work with those involved to ensure this new repair request is concluded within our published service standards.”
