Nottingham Wetherspoon's staff have spoken out about the latest Covid rule changes and the impact it will have on them.
From Monday, August 16, those who are under 18 or double jabbed no longer have to isolate when alerted via the NHS App.
The change was announced last month as a part of step 4 of the government’s COVID-19 roadmap.
In the UK, 75% of people are now double vaccinated and the latest data from Public Health England.
Since the end of lockdown in May, many of the legal restrictions have changed such as no longer having to wear a mask, but throughout some of the busiest times of this year such as the 2020 Euros', many companies were losing employees due to staff isolating.
Ben Hargreaves, 22, and Pearce Boulton, 20, both work at Nottingham city centre Wetherspoon pub The Roebuck.
The two bar staff have different views to the news of isolation rules changing but overall agree with the lifting of the latest restriction.
Mr Hargreaves said the new rules aren’t much of a change to him as “we [Wetherspoons] have procedures to limit contact.”
Whereas, Mr Boulton stated that he’s “buzzing” because “we don’t have to work understaffed anymore.”
In previous months, many workers at Wetherspoon had to work overtime due to other employees isolating.
Last week, (August 9th) The Last Post, a Wetherspoon's in Beeston was shut early due to two members of staff testing positive for COVID-19, resulting in other members of staff isolating too.
A Nottingham charity shop worker, who asked to remain anonymous, said he “welcomes these new rules”, and said: “The government couldn’t expect people to keep on isolating forever as that would be ridiculous."
