Nottingham Wetherspoon's pubs take on Nando's with new range of char-grilled chicken

Wetherspoon pubs in and around Nottingham have thrown down the gauntlet to Nando's fans with a new range of grilled char-grilled chicken.

Pubs including The Samuel Hall in Sherwood, The Trent Bridge Inn, West Bridgford, and The Last Post, Beeston are offering British-farm-assured chicken, served on the bone, marinated, slow cooked and finished on the char-grill.

The half-chicken is served with either a lemon and herb glaze, with coleslaw and a garlic and herb dip or with a hot and spicy naga chilli and citrus glaze, with coleslaw and a sriracha hot sauce.

Both meals, served with a choice of chips, spicy rice or salad, are priced at £7.99 with a choice of soft drinks and £9.29 with an alcoholic drink, from the range on offer.

Customers can also add to their meals, from a selection of chicken wings (£2.50 for a portion of five) as well as spicy seasoning to their chips.

The Trent Bridge Inn pub manager, Philippa McFadden, said: “We strive to offer our customers the widest choice of meals.

“We believe the char-grilled chicken dishes will be a great addition to the food offering in our pub.”
