Nottingham weather forecast as 'Arctic air' brings freezing conditions

The weather will feel very different on Bank Holiday Monday despite a lovely and warm Easter Sunday as Arctic air makes the mercury plunge.

Nottingham reached highs of 15C on Easter Sunday as people basked in the warn sunshine and enjoyed the rule of six outdoor meet ups.

But it's time for the big coat once again as temperatures on Monday are not expected to get above 6C.

And Tuesday morning also looks set to be particularly bracing with temperatures of -1C expected.

Due to the wind chill this will feel like -6C, according to the Met Office.

Here's the Met Office outlook for the region over the coming days:

Today:

A dry and largely sunny start to Monday but feeling bitterly cold in the brisk northerly wind. Some snow showers are possible during the afternoon, these more likely along coastal areas. Maximum temperature 7 °C.

Tonight:

A largely dry and clear night although the odd snow shower remains possible along the coast. Wind easing a bit though staying cold, with a widespread frost developing around midnight. Minimum temperature -2 °C.

Tuesday:

Another cold day, with sunny spells but a greater chance of snow showers, perhaps leading to temporary accumulations over high ground. Some strong winds. Widespread frost overnight. Maximum temperature 6 °C.

Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:

Less cold and windy Wednesday but cloudier, with some rain overnight. Windy and somewhat milder Thursday, with rain at times. Early rain clearing to showers on Friday, perhaps wintry later.
