Nottingham has been voted the 10th friendliest city in the UK, trumping the likes of London, Leeds and Swansea.
The Queen of the Midlands also left our neighbouring cities languishing behind with Derby and Leicester only managing to place 31st and 19th respectively.
Conducted by travel and tourism website Big 7, the poll asked the company's 1.5 million social media followers for their favourite cities when it came to friendliness based on factors including how easy the city is to navigate, if strangers would help you find your way when that pesky roaming data doesn’t work and if you could make new best friends in a local bar.
Straight in at number ten and the highest ranked East Midlands entry was Nottingham credited with being "a melting pot", "compact" and "vibrant".
The full statement on the website says: "The city is a melting pot of people from all over the country, which is a highlight. It’s a compact city with great transport, making it extremely visitor-friendly.
"Nottingham is full of vibrant, forward-looking communities filled with engaged and friendly people."
Bottom of the list at number 50 was Belfast followed by fellow capital city London at number 49.
Ranking number one was northern gem Newcastle, voted top for its hard to match atmosphere and its "homey feel".
