Nottingham Trent University withdraws offer to applicant following investigation into racist video

A university has withdrawn an offer to an applicant after an alleged racist video was posted on social media.

The footage was taken from what appears to be a Snapchat group chat and posted on Instagram.

The video plays a voice recording in which one male can be heard using racist language.

It emerged online after the Euro 2020 final - and the Instagram account which posted the footage tagged Nottingham Trent University in the post.

On Wednesday, July 14, a spokesman for the university said the allegation didn't involve a current student.

But at the time it was unclear whether the footage related to a university applicant.

In an update, the university confirmed that it had withdrawn an offer to an applicant.

A Nottingham Trent University spokesman said: “This allegation does not involve an NTU student. We do not tolerate any form of discrimination, including racism.

"We looked into this matter immediately and as a result have withdrawn an offer to an applicant.”

On Sunday evening England’s dreams of a second major tournament win in 55 years were dashed as Gareth Southgate’s men lost the final on penalties.
