Nottingham trams disrupted just 20 minutes after damaged overhead lines 'fixed'

Trams in Nottingham were only able to run for 20 minutes before more disruption hit the service.

NET, the operator, reported the damaged overhead lines issue had been fixed at around 1pm on Thursday, August 12, but just 20 minutes later services were halted again.

The incident was first reported before 11am on Wednesday, August 11, and it was revealed a damaged tram had pulled down overhead lines.

A tram suffered a snapped pantograph (the device which sits at the top of a tram to conduct electricity from the overhead lines) which then resulted in a section of power cable being pulled down.

It occurred in Basford, underneath the Church Street bridge, and services were terminating at The Forest or Bulwell as a result.

While trams were up and running with delays at 1pm, service has been disrupted by the same issue again, according to NET's website.

In the latest update NET said: "We have no service between Bulwell & Wilkinson St & Phoenix Park & Wilkinson St. NCT Yellow & Orange line Buses also EMR Trains are accepting our tickets & passes. Shuttle Bus service operating between Forest & Bulwell Bus station."
