A woman has pleaded guilty to arson in the ladies toilets of Nottingham Railway Station - starting a huge blaze which ripped through the building causing £5.6 million damage.
Gemma Peat, 34, admitted a single charge of arson at Nottingham Crown Court after a review by the prosecution of the allegation she originally faced.
She had denied intentionally or recklessly causing arson on January 12 last year. Her trial was due to start on August 12.
But today (Wednesday, August 7), when her case was listed for a pre-trial review, there was a dramatic development as the new charge was put to her in the dock.
She admitted arson, without lawful excuse, damaged by fire the female toilet of Nottingham Railway Station belonging to Network Rail.
Grace Hale, prosecuting, said the plea was acceptable and asked for her to be sentenced on Tuesday, August 13 at 10.30am.
