Passengers travelling from Nottingham to Lincoln are facing long delays due to an animal 'running around' on a railway line in Newark. The line between Lincoln and Newark Castle was closed at around 2.50pm on Friday, May 20.
After staff arrived to deal with the animal the line was briefly reopened before being shut again at around 3.20pm. East Midlands Railway said it would take "some time" to move the animal.
"Network Rail have staff on site currently dealing with the animal, the animal keeps running around the tracks so the decision has been made to closed the lines again," its website read. The line was eventually reopened at around 4pm despite the animal being on the tracks, with trains running at a reduced speed.
EMR said in a tweet: "There is an animal on the railway line near Newark. Trains are now able to run at very reduced speed. However this incident has caused major disruption on our route between Lincoln and Nottingham. Keep up to date on our website."
