Nottingham to be hotter than Athens today as temperatures set to hit 17C

Nottingham will be hotter than Athens today, Tuesday, March 22. According to the Met Office, the mercury will soar to 17 degrees.

In what could be the hottest day of the year so far, temperatures for Nottingham will peak at about 3pm, before slowly falling to a still respectable 13 degrees by about 6pm. By contrast, people in Athens can expect temperatures to top 11C.

And the rest of the week looks good for Nottingham, too. In fact, it looks like we should be seeing highs of between 15 and 17 degrees until Sunday and it's sunshine all the way. Warm, sunny and dry for most is how the weather experts sum up the outlook, adding that today should start off with "any mist and fog patches clearing quickly, then sunny spells and light winds."

It said it will be "Dry for most, although isolated showers are possible in the afternoon." You'll be unlucky if you catch a shower - there is only a 5% chance rain today according to the experts.

The entire week ahead for our region has been predicted to be sunny too. While there may be a chilly start to Wednesday and a slight frost in prone rural spots, highs will again reach 17 and Thursday, Friday and the weekend follows the same pattern.

We should see highs of 16 from Thursday to Saturday, with Sunday slightly cooler reaching 15 degrees. So, it will still be sunny for those heading out for a Mother's Day walk.
