Nottingham Tier 2 lockdown: What are the rules for children with separated parents?

As tighter restrictions come into force for Nottinghamshire this week parents are asking about the rules on childcare.

In particular Nottinghamshire Live readers have been asking about the rules on the children of divorced parents.

That's because a household mixing ban, meaning that you can no longer visit friends inside their homes, will be in effect from Wednesday as part of "tier two" restrictions.

This would naturally lead you to think that the children of divorced parents will need to stay with just one parent for the duration of the lockdown.

However, that is not the case.

In fact there is an exemption to the mixing ban for "arrangements where children do not live in the same household as both their parents or guardians".

This means your children can move between both of your homes, and you can also enter your ex-partner's home, as long as it is for the purposes of moving your children between both parents.

You can read more about all of the tier two restrictions, and some more frequently-asked questions, here.
