Nottingham takeaway offering free food and hot drinks to homeless

A Nottingham takeaway is wholeheartedly embracing goodwill to all men and women at this time of year by offering a free meal and hot drink to the homeless.

Demonstrating the true meaning of Christmas, the Wings and Shrimp Kitchen is making the generous gesture from December 18 to 22 - its final  week before closing for the festive break.

While others are revelling in festive party fun, the takeaway in Hartley Road, Radford, wants to bring a little cheer to those without a roof over their heads.

Posting the message on Instagram, takeaway owner Tobias Lewis asked followers to pass it on to those in need.

"This time of year can be difficult for some. We are here to show all the love we can. Come down for a free meal and a hot drink.

"Our door is open wide. Community needs unity."

Tobias, who opened the takeaway in October, will be giving out wings with rice or fries and a warming tea or coffee.

He said: "I've always had a good heart and helping others is just normal to me. I just want to help those less fortunate.

"The community has shown us a lot of support since we opened and it's only right we give back."
