Nottingham St George's Day plans as England's biggest flag set up on Council House

Nottingham's iconic St George's Day flag has been set up at the Council House for another year to mark the patron saint day - and it's the biggest in England.

The day (April 23) is usually celebrated with a traditional parade by the Radford branch of the Royal Society of St George across the city centre to the Old Market Square.

The parade is always headed by St George on horseback and the city also displays what is believed to be the largest St George Cross flag in the country across the front of the Council House.

But for the second time due to Covid, there will be no parade this year.

Nottingham City Council did confirm the Council House will be lit up in red to mark the day on Friday.

The flag was set up in the glorious April sunshine on Monday by company Fast Graphics.
